Service Unit Team Position Descriptions
The Service Unit Team is a group of local adult volunteers involved in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Girl Scouts in a given area. They work with troops, adult volunteers and girls in their area, promoting the policies and guidelines of the organization, and serving as liaison between it’s members and Council.
Service Unit Manager (SUM)
Supervises the other team members to ensure all positions are operating effectively to meet the goals and objectives of Girl Scouts. He/She is responsible for ensuring the Girl Scout program is delivered to girls in the area and that adult volunteers are properly trained and supported.
Registrar
Ensures registration information is complete and accurate. Keeps records of troops, schools and other member information. Coordinates the annual membership renewal campaign.
Treasurer (SUT)
Handles service unit finances and reports monthly finances to the Team; helps troops open bank accounts; collects and reviews annual troop Financial Reports and coordinates disbanding troops who are not continuing.
Service Unit Cookie Coordinator (SUCC)
Works with the council cookie sale area manager; trains Troop Cookie Moms (TCM’s); coordinates booth sales in our area and keeps TCM’s informed of deadlines and procedures.
Fall Sale Coordinator (Nut Sales)
Works with the council fall product sale manager; trains troop fall sale managers; oversees troop selling activity and prepares final report.
Outdoor Activity Consultant
Supports troop leaders by advising and answering questions regarding camp training; approves/disapproves troop activities outside of regular meetings.
S.H.A.R.E. Coordinator
Assists council in conducting the annual SHARE Campaign in their area, educating parents and volunteers about the financial needs and activities of Girl Scouts and coordinating the service unit’s annual SHARE goal with the team.
Membership Organizer
Promotes Girl Scouts in a designated school, helps form troops and assists new leaders and other troop volunteers as needed. Coordinates membership activities with our Council Membership Coordinator.
Recognitions Chair
Coordinates application procedures for adult recognitions within the service unit; assists with the planning of an annual Recognitions event for adult members; assists with incentives, thank you gifts and recognitions at monthly leader meetings.
